I don't understand why these features, which already exist at Evas Image level, should be applied at the video buffer level. It doesn't make sense to me.

i agree - why? evas map and others can deal with this at the evas api level. also what is the point of rio? just clip to that region? again clipping rects and evas map can take care of that too as well as normal image fill parameters.
