Focus issues with launching applications
Open, Pending on user inputPublic

Description

New applications don't receive the focus when there is another window on the desktop, particularly when the newly launched application is being launched by the other application on the desktop. To reproduce:

I use "Sloppy" focus policy.

Example 1)

  1. Open Nautilus
  2. Navigate to a folder with a video
  3. Open video by double-clicking ( which for me opens with totem )
  4. Hit 'F', which should make totem go into full-screen mode

Results: Instead of totem going full-screen, the 'F' keystroke goes through to Nautilus, which starts filtering on files ( looks for files with 'F' in them ).

Hitting ALT-TAB or moving the mouse *out* of the totem window and back in gives Nautilus the focus properly.

Example 2)

  1. Launch Remmina ( an RDP / VNC client )
  2. Double-click on a saved connection ( for me, a Linux RDP server )
  3. Start typing credentials

Results: As in the above example, Remmina doesn't receive the focus or respond to key strokes until I've hit ALT-TAB or done a mouse-out, mouse-in sequence

What is your new window focus policy?

"Sloppy". I also *had* "Only dialogs with focused parent" selected for "New Window Focus". I've changed this to "All windows", and at least Remmina is working better, but I don't think this should be required - if a new window covers the previous window, and my mouse is "inside" that window, then I expect my focus would now be in the new window. The example of double-clicking a video from Nautilus best highlights this.

I can't reproduce this with current checkouts and your nautilus example, is this still happening?
