Enlightenment getting stuck after changing theme at "Loading Module: lokker..."
Open, Incoming QueuePublic

Description

Hi there!

I'm not sure where to put this issue, but my Enlightenment 0.22.4 (official Arch Linux package) is getting stuck during start after I changed the theme (from Vulcan-Retro.edj to R-NightBling2-2.0_E22.edj, but I'm not sure if this is necessary).

"Loading Module: lokker..." that is all I see. The animation is alive the whole time.

I found no way to fix it, except restoring my ~/.e and ~/.elementary folders from a backup, or starting from scratch.

So my question is: Is there any possibility where I can find more information about what is the problem? (log-file, trace, etc?).
And is this problem E-specific or theme-specific?

Thank you guys for any help!

the theme doesn't emit a signal back to say the init splash is done fading away/ending? so e tells the init splash to exit with:

signal: "e,state,done"; source: "e"

then e is expecting a signal back from theme when it's done doing its hide animation etc. like

action: SIGNAL_EMIT "e,state,done_ok" "e";

check the theme src in the e/init/splash group does it ever emit the done_ok ?

Hi there,

actually I was able to decompile the edj file and take a look.
Exactly the action you stated (raster) can be found inside the default.edc file see screenshot.

Because I'm not familiar with theme programming, I don't know further. I was able to bypass this issue by simply deactivating the splash screen in Enlightenment, so all went well.
Can I do something else to find the reason for this behavior?

Else, feel free to close this issue.

this seems odd. the signal is sent when finishing walking the launch app list.... and e doesn't wait for these apps to exit to do this. so i'm not sure other than the theme not handling the signal but seemingly you say it does... :/ the theme change smelled of this being the issue... so i really am not sure what else then... :/
