setting "Default Applications" -> "File" to anything messes opening files through mime detection up
Open, Incoming QueuePublic

Description

I wanted to use geany as my default editor and so i set Default Applications -> File to geany. from then on, everything everywhere (gnomes nautilus, efm, terminology) used geany for any mimetype effectively disabling mime detection.

i don't even know what this is actually setting, i havn't found anything in ~/.local/share/applications/default.list nor any mimetype.list

Also, it cannot be removed/set to null by e's gui. at the end i had to resolve to remove geany, go back to enlightenments gui Default Applications and press apply once.

nightmare, this option should be removed.

no, this doesn't work properly. it turns out currently i have to remove geany and live without it, because i can't remove it in the gui and don't know to which config file this is written to. :-(

IIRC, main e.cfg stores mime associations. Likely, the problem is that a generic mime type was set for Geany, causing Everything to be opened by it. Agree what that the interface could be improved.

seemingly this has something to do with efreet, which is caching mime lookups?
