Totally transparent windows on un-minimizing
Open, Incoming QueuePublic

Description

This bug happens rarely and randomly. An example: I minimized Audacious (a Qt5 app) and let it play Internet radio. After an hour or so, I un-minimized it by clicking its icon on Desktop; then, only an empty and totally transparent window showed up. Minimizing and un-minimizing again didn't have effect.

I have enlightenment 0.23.1-1 from Arch's repository but the same thing happened before, with Arch packages or my own compilations. It also happened in Debian.

EDIT: I have Intel graphic card and the bug happened on two laptops.

Is this with the "tasks" module?

Are you using X11 or Wayland?

I used IBox for un-minimzing. I'm not sure if it happens with the Tasks module too because it happens only rarely. The title-bar and window shadow were visible but the window rectangle showed the desktop background.

I'm on X11 (strangely, Arch's package included a Wayland session with E0.22 but it doesn't with E0.23).

could you try what happens if you:

  • Resizing the program when it happens. (I guess you'll see random artifacts)
  • "sending" the program to another Desktop or Screen (right click in Tasks and "Move to")

?

It happened again. Sending to another desktop didn't change anything but resizing did: the window got completely normal after resizing.

Well, this sounds more like a problem with the program itself. Or high system load.

I know random problems are not easily debugable, so could you

  1. please run the program in a terminal when this happens? so: $program &> /tmp/output which will send its stdout and stderr (via the &>) to the file /tmp/output and then upload that file?
  2. reboot and upload us a dmesg (because it will be shorter) and, if possible, a journalctl -b when this happens? Also a detailed hardware description with lspci -vvv?

Please use file upload, as the files will be quite large.

High system load can be excluded.

audacious-qt5 works without problem under KDE and LXQt (Qt-based DEs). Under E, I have to disable its tray icon because E's systray has a strange problem with it. So, I don't think the problem is in the app but, of course, I can't be certain.

Strangely enough, since the last resizing, the problem hasn't happened.
